Why Canada?

Canada is one of the few countries that actively seeks immigrants. Its points-based system rewards education, language skills, and work experience — making it uniquely accessible for skilled professionals worldwide.

Transparent Merit System

Express Entry ranks every candidate objectively by CRS score. No lottery, no arbitrary decisions. You know exactly where you stand and what points you need.

Fast Citizenship

3 years of permanent residency leads to citizenship. One of the shortest PR-to-citizenship timelines globally. Canadian passport ranks among the world's strongest.

Quality of Life

Universal healthcare, world-class education, multicultural society. Strong tech hubs in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa. Safe and politically stable.

Multiple Pathways

Express Entry for skilled workers, PNPs for provincial needs, entrepreneur streams for business builders. Category-based draws for in-demand occupations. Something for every profile.

Express Entry: The CRS Points System

Express Entry is Canada's flagship immigration system. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores candidates out of 1,200 points based on age, education, language proficiency, and work experience. Regular draws invite top-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residency.

Startup Visa: Closed — What Replaced It

Important: Startup Visa Closed January 1, 2026

The Canada Startup Visa program is closed to new applicants as of January 1, 2026. It has been replaced by new Entrepreneur Pilot programs. If you see websites still promoting the Startup Visa for new applications, they are outdated.

Current Entrepreneur Options

For entrepreneurs, the main pathways are now Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) with business streams, and the C11 Work Permit at the federal level:

  • C11 Work Permit: Primary federal entry point for entrepreneurs. Allows you to establish and operate a business in Canada.
  • PNP Business Streams: Each province sets its own investment and business requirements (see Provincial Nominee section below).
  • New Entrepreneur Pilots: Replacement programs are being rolled out. Check IRCC for latest details.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

Each Canadian province and territory operates its own PNP with unique criteria. A provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile — virtually guaranteeing selection. PNPs are now the primary pathway for business immigrants since the Startup Visa closed.

British Columbia (BC)

CAD $200K+

Strong tech ecosystem (Vancouver). Entrepreneur stream requires business ownership/management experience.

Alberta

Varies

Multiple streams including rural entrepreneur and graduate entrepreneur. Growing tech scene in Calgary and Edmonton.

Atlantic Provinces

CAD $100K-150K

Key detail: A PNP nomination adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry score. Since most draws select candidates at 450-520 points, a PNP nomination virtually guarantees your selection. This is the single most powerful score boost available.
